ASAHI BEVERAGE UPGRADE, Laverton
Brewery Expansion

Client: Asahi beverages, Krones AG & Process Partners
Year: 2018
Industry: Brewing
Location: Victoria

TFG Group successfully completed the mechanical installation at Asahi Beverages Laverton Brewery to increase the facility’s capacity without disturbing existing production. The timeline was extremely rigid for the size of the project and TFG with multiple supervisors managed the eight month installation, completing it with an impeccable safety record.

TFG initially installed a new cereal cooker to the brewhouse to enable the brewing of unmalted cereals as well as malted cereals. TFG worked closely with Krones AG and Asahi Beverages to upgrade the brewhouse processing equipment and integrate it into the existing brewhouse. The project required the installation and commissioning of new fermenters and Bright Beer tanks as well as a new cellar requiring installation, integration and connection of valve manifolds. The upgrade plant and equipment was installed and integrated to existing services of steam, glycol, air, water and all trade services were extended to these areas.

Stainless steel 304L and 316L and approximately 12 kilometres of stainless steel tube/pipe was used throughout the project. Atlas Steels supplied the stainless steel, whilst the tanks and vessels were fabricated by Furphy Engineering. Fabrication of stainless steel support modules complete with pipework were fabricated at the TFG Campbellfield site due to site space restrictions. All service lines were in stainless steel, excluding steam and condensate which required carbon steel.

The TFG team used orbital and sanitary welding throughout the brewhouse installation and provided comprehensive site management and supervision to ensure a timely installation and successful commissioning.
