TFG Group was awarded the fabrication of an 10,000 litre Sulphuric Acid Storage Tank to design and code API 650.

SPECIALISED CLIENT REQUESTS

The tank was fabricated to specifications of 5mm and 16mm grade 316 plate welded to full penetration and X-Ray standards with various sized 316 pipe and flanges. Tank fittings of nozzles, a manway and compensation plates were completed in the fabrication to the highest standards.

The tank fabrication had many facets including passivation of welds with hydrofluoric/nitric acid with 10% RT on all butt welds by external testing. The tank was leak tested and delivered on site to Beenyup.

The working volume of the completed tank was 6.6m cubed, with atmospheric design pressure with a maximum working pressure of 10KPA with a weight of 12,260 when full. The internal corrosion allowance is 0.5mm and the tank was fabricated to API 650 AS 1210 Class 2A and flued to 98 degrees sulphuric Acid.
