TFG Group were proud to be awarded the contract for the fabrication, installation and documentation of piping works at the new Base Fractionation Facility at Broadmeadows. Named ‘Project Aurora’, the new facility will double CSL’s albumin production capacity and create hundreds of jobs. The Level 1 scope of works package included all pipework, framing, supports and equipment to support the utilities on the ground level.

The TFG team hit a major milestone during this project, which reached 55,000 man hours without any Lost Time Injuries. TFG installed approximately 15km of pipework, with 6 orbital welders executing on average 85 welds per day at a total of 16,000 welds throughout the project. Working closely with the builder ICON, the on site TFG team reported daily on progress and also assisted CSL in coordinating other trades to meet the tight deadlines.

During the build phase, the 200m x 200m area was accessed by multiple contractors and disciplines following a specific build and commissioning sequence. TFGs extensive project management experience ensured all contractors worked harmoniously together, meeting every project milestone and completing the project ahead of time.

Due to the large amount of free issued consumables and equipment, TFG engaged a dedicated storeman to manage the receipt and allocation of the goods. The storeman managed all storage containers, goods quarantine and work pack collation which maximised material efficiency within the site.

TFG worked side by side with the engineers to assist the commissioning component of the project. Our hands on and supportive approach enabled adjustments to be made quickly and efficiently within each section of the plant.
