BREWERY INSTALLATION, Port Adelaide
Pirate Life Brewing Brewhouse

Client: Carlton & United Breweries
Year: 2018-2019
Industry: Brewing
Location: South Australia

TFG Group was awarded the mechanical installation of the 50 hectolitre brewhouse in Port Adelaide. The three month installation involved installing 16 fermenter vessels, four bright beer tanks, the fabrication and installation of the brewhouse and cellar CIP sets and the installation of the malt handling and bulk bag handling.

The initial design scope of the pipe racks and walkways changed significantly from using galvanized steel to stainless steel. The TFG team ascertained efficiencies that could be implemented to offer a quicker timeline and allowed the mechanical installation to be completed in a shorter project period. After collaboration with the Pirates, TFG fabricated and installed a stainless steel platform and a 100 metre walkway on site which proved to be aesthetic, durable and time efficient. TFG also proudly installed Furphy’s fermenters and tanks.

Stainless steel tube AS1528 in a combination of 304 and 316 was used throughout the Pirate Life Brewery with approximately three kilometres of tube to complete the installation. All pipe supports, racks and electrical conduits were stainless steel and the platforms and walkways were completely fabricated and installed on- site to AS1657.

TFG completed the mechanical installation in five months, with the first brew being after three months. More than 100 tradesmen, engineers, brewers and artists were involved in the fastest and most cost effective 50 hectolitre brewery build in ABI portfolio history.
